Coast to Coast Challenge for QM Parents
Queen Mary’s is exceptionally proud of two of our Year 8 & 9 parents, Mrs Grafton and Mrs Patrick who are taking part in the Coast to Coast charity walk. On 30th April, they will be leaving St Bees in Cumbria to walk for 11 long days to reach Robin Hood’s Bay in Yorkshire, covering around 20 miles each day. They are walking to raise money for PPR brain tumour foundation and also Hearing Dogs – both of which make a huge difference to people locally.
On Sunday 9th March, many Queen Mary’s girls took part in a weekend activity helping to raise money and awareness for these wonderful parents, and Imogen Patrick wrote the below about article following the event:
“ON APRIL 30TH BOTH OUR MUMS (Sarah-Jane Patrick & Victoria Grafton) WILL BE STARTING OUT TO WALK THE 200 MILE COAST TO COAST TRAIL FOR CHARITY…
…so last Sunday was the first of their fundraisers and twelve Queen Mary’s girls, together with Francie and Miss Charmer, came to support us. Bacon sandwiches were served in the sunshine at the Patrick’s house before setting off on the five mile walk to the Grafton’s.
Over forty other friends and their dogs joined us for the lovely walk through Nidderdale, before enjoying soup at the end.
An excellent start to their fundraising for their two charities, Hearing Dogs and PPR Brain Tumour Foundation. If anyone would like to sponsor them, their just giving site is: www.justgiving.com/teams/vands-j
Thank you in advance for your support.”
