Queen Mary's Star in the making!
Alexa Wilkinson, Year 8, has been taking steps to jump start her singing career by participating in competitions in the local area. Alexa took part in the Harrogate Festival which took place over 2 weekends (8/9th March and 15/16th March) where she came a fantastic 1st in the unaccompanied folk song category singing ‘Danny Boy’, followed by a 2nd place position in the Year 13 and below class singing ‘Homeward Bound’ and ‘How Beautiful Are The Feet’.
She has also taken part in the ‘Big T Audition’ Harrogate Talent Show, in which 200 people auditioned, including adults. With only 12 places in the final up for grabs, Alexa has stormed through and will have to sing again at Harrogate Theatre to be in with a chance of being crowned the winner. The final takes place on Saturday 29th March, 7-10.30pm when the audience vote for their favourite singer. Tickets can be bought online or through the Box Office if you would like to support her.
Alexa sings in the school’s prestigious Chapel Choir who recently recorded a new CD, as well as within a rock band at school. Her band will be competing once again at the next Band Competition on Friday 28th March at Queen Mary’s to win the trophy!
Well done for your achievements so far and good luck for the final stages!
