Boarding, whether full-time or on a flexible basis, is an integral part of Queen Mary’s life and adds to the school’s ‘home from home’ atmosphere. In a supportive environment girls acquire the inter-personal skills needed for living with others, gaining in confidence and maturity whilst learning to become more self-reliant and independent. Boarding provides an invaluable preparation for future life.
Flexi-boarding is a great way to introduce girls to boarding whether as a regular commitment one or two nights each week or on an occasional basis. Many will then decide to become weekly or full boarders as they progress through the school. There are specific dormitories reserved for flexi boarders but when space allows, they may also have chance to share rooms with regular boarders.
The accommodation for boarders is within the main school building. Living and working in one building creates a real sense of community where important values such as good manners, tolerance and consideration for others are developed.
