Physical Education Department Philosophy
The philosophy of the Physical Education department is to provide every girl with the provision to learn physical skills across a broad range of activities, discover values, face challenges and to understand how to lead a balanced and healthy lifestyle. It is a priority to make every child feel safe and supported within the lesson and to strive to improve within their own capabilities. We shall provide opportunities for pupils irrespective of ability to be creative, competitive and to face different challenges as individuals, in groups and as part of a team.
At Queen Mary’s we offer teams across 10 sports, A, B and sometimes C teams. 100% of Year 3-6 and 88% of Year 7-11 competed for the school in at least one sport in 2014-2015. Sports clubs are offered at lunchtimes and after school and are available to anyone. The more able are nominated for Area, County and Regional representation with many of our pupils being successful. Teams are entered into Area competitions with opportunities to qualify at higher stages.
