Our Early Years and Reception pupils have been busy making potions and adding food colouring to curds which they explored with their hands and wrote letters and numbers.
The equestrian teams from Queen Mary’s have put Yorkshire on the map again as they have qualified for the National Schools Equestrian Association Championship Finals in several classes and the Senior Team have qualified for the Royal Windsor Horse Show.
Seven schools joined the Queen Mary’s team to take on this literary quiz that is now in its fifteenth year. The questions provided just the right level of challenge and variety.
Who said you can’t stage an opera including a cast with an average age of 14? Queen Mary’s can! Audiences were captivated. The standard of singing and performance was exceptional.
Internationally recognised folk group, The Young’uns, inspires Queen Mary’s girls from Years 4 – 11 with three Drama workshops exploring British values using songs and stories of the past and the present.
A group of Queen Mary’s Art Scholars joined artists from across the district to create artwork illuminating Ripon Cathedrral with 7,000 candles for Candlemas, the most spectacular service of the year.
Our Early Years and Reception pupils have been busy learning all about minibeasts, identifying them, creating hand print hedgehogs, learning about the symmetry of butterflies, the ‘ll’ phoneme and building a forest enclosure.
The girls in Year 8 experienced Mathematics in action as they measured distance, time and conversions at Catterick Racecourse.
Congratulations to our Years 3 – 5 girls who entertained us all.
The English GCSE curriculum was brought to life as Year 11 experienced live performances from poets including Imitiaz Dharker and their favourite, John Agard.
Congratulations to the Over 13 Gymnastics Team who have been crowned Area Champions for the third year running. Girls have also succeeded in Netball and Hockey with selections for the North Yorkshire squads.
Our boarders have been busy this half term with a Salsa Evening, Design a Ball Gown competition, St Andrew’s Dinner and a trip to Edinburgh to see the sights and enjoy a little Christmas shopping.
