Queen Mary’s Girls Shine at the Northern Schools Dance Competition!
Queen Mary’s Girls Shine at the Northern Schools Dance Competition!
What an incredible achievement for our talented dancers at the Northern Schools Dance Competition, where Queen Mary’s pupils showcased exceptional skill, commitment, and creativity on stage. Competing against nine schools from across Manchester, Liverpool, Bradford, Leeds and Yarm, the standard was impressively high — yet our girls rose to the challenge with confidence, teamwork and passion.
We are thrilled to celebrate three outstanding results:
🥇 Prep Dance Team – Winners of the KS2 category
🥈 Senior Dance Team – Runners-up in the KS4 category
🥉 Year 7 Dancers – 3rd place in the KS3 category
From the youngest dancers to our experienced senior performers, every girl demonstrated what makes Performing Arts at Queen Mary’s so special. Their performances were polished, expressive and full of personality, earning well-deserved recognition from the judging panel.

Queen Mary’s Performing Arts Success: Outstanding Performances Across All Ages
The Prep Dance Team impressed the audience with their precision, enthusiasm and beautifully synchronised choreography, securing first place in the KS2 category. Their energy lit up the stage and showed just how much joy dance brings to our youngest performers.
Our Senior Dance Team delivered a powerful and mature performance that highlighted their technical skill, emotional expression and stage presence. Against exceptionally strong competition, they achieved a fantastic second place in the KS4 category — a testament to their dedication and hard work.
Meanwhile, the Year 7 dancers took to the stage with confidence and flair, earning third place in the KS3 category. For many, this was their first major competition at senior school level, and they represented Queen Mary’s with impressive professionalism and spirit.

All Girls’ School Celebrates Teamwork, Creativity and Confidence
Beyond the medals, this competition highlighted the true value of dance within school life. Our girls demonstrated teamwork, resilience and creative expression — qualities that Performing Arts at Queen Mary’s aims to nurture at every stage. Each team supported one another throughout the day, celebrating successes and lifting spirits, creating a strong sense of community and shared achievement.
Dance continues to play a vibrant role in our curriculum and co-curricular programme, offering pupils opportunities to develop their technique, build confidence and experience the excitement of performing on stage. Events like the Northern Schools Dance Competition provide an inspiring platform for our girls to challenge themselves, grow and shine.

Well Done to All Our Dancers – You’ve Done Our Yorkshire Independent School Proud!
We are incredibly proud of every pupil who took part — not only for their impressive results, but for the enthusiasm, discipline and creativity they bring to dance at Queen Mary’s. A huge thank you to our Performing Arts staff for their expert guidance and encouragement, and to the families who support and cheer on our young performers.
