National Riding Success for Queen Mary’s School at the NSEA Championship Finals
Riders at Queen Mary’s School, achieved national recognition in the Nations Cup and 80cm Jumping With Style at the National Schools Equestrian Association (NSEA) Championship Finals.
Queen Mary’s pupil, Nya H, age 11, represented the North of England alongside Old Maryan, Dee O in the Nations Cup. Queen Mary’s riders completed the 90cm and 80cm sections. After a technical course walk and warm up, each girl jumped an amazing clear round and Nya’s time was enough to secure the national title.
Nya H was delighted: “There is a lot of hard work and dedication from the team to get to the NSEA Championships. Having jumped individually at Hickstead and the Horse of the Year Show, the NSEA Championships fulfil a different opportunity for me to compete with my friends from Queen Mary’s in the school team”.
The young Queen Mary’s team of seven individual girls competed in Show Jumping and Jumping with Style classes. In the 80cm Jumping with Style, the team completed the course with precision and composure with clear rounds finishing in an encouraging 5th in the UK.
Queen Mary’s Equestrian Centre Manager, Emma Hill said: “I am extremely proud of all the girls for their achievements. The relatively young team, many of whom were riding new horses and ponies, displayed excellent horsemanship throughout the weekend.”
Carole Cameron, Head of Queen Mary’s School said: “Congratulations to the girls and Equestrian Centre staff for their continued dedication to the sport. To reach the National Finals is a wonderful achievement in itself, however for a team where all the girls are 14 or younger, the achievements at the Championships are even more impressive”.
Since the Championships, the riders have competed at Greenlands Equestrian Centre with wins all round as the team came 1st in the 70cm and 80cm competition. Congratulations to Darcey W, Olivia Y, Florence PS and Nancy R. All of the girls rode great competitive rounds in good style. Individually, well done to Florence PS for 1st, Olivia Y 2nd, Darcey W 4th and Nancy R 5th in the 70cm event.
