Queen Mary’s Charity of the Year
Each year, Queen Mary’s pupils and staff vote for a charity that will become the official Queen Mary’s School Charity of the Year. Last year we raised over £3,600 for Tiggywinkles Wildlife Hospital.
The Charity Council, made up of girls from Years 3-11 take on the responsibility of the election process showing great leadership and public speaking skills. This year members of the Charity Council created a list of ideas and then prepared presentations for the top three charities:
Charlie Waller Trust
Build Africa
Woodlands Ward at Harrogate and District Hospital
Following presentations to the whole school, the new Charity of the Year was selected:
And the winner is… BUILD AFRICA!
Build Africa works with communities to build schools, train teachers, promote the importance of education ensuring that all solutions are sustainable long-term. Having joined the Street Child family in 2019, Build Africa can now reach even more children and their families across sixteen countries across Africa and Asia.
We look forward to raising money for this wonderful charity.
