Our private nursery indoor and outdoor spaces are thoughtfully designed to spark curiosity and inspire meaningful learning experiences. Nursery children enjoy their own age specific teacher led classrooms with access to secure meadows and woodlands, supporting exploration and Forest School activities that nurture confidence and a connection with nature. Outdoor climbing, sensory, and imaginative play spaces encourage physical development, creativity, and risk-taking in a safe environment.
Indoors, light-filled and calm nursery school classrooms feature natural materials, cosy reading nooks, and dedicated sensory areas that promote focus and wellbeing. Bifold doors seamlessly connect our indoor and outdoor spaces, allowing for fluid, child-led exploration and extending learning beyond the classroom walls.
The school nursery rooms are split into 0-2 years, 2-3 years, and 3-4 years but all children are able to flow through the space freely, for a closer-knit, family-feel nursery community. Our Early Years education is tailored to each age group, ensuring children are thriving at each development stage. As they move through the rooms and into preschool, we ensure they are fully prepared for reception and beyond.

As part of Queen Mary’s, nursery school children enjoy gentle exposure to broader school facilities such as pony visits in our onsite stables and creative movement spaces, which help them to transition smoothly into Pre-Prep when ready.
Walks around the campus allow school nursery children to take in the meadows, fields, woodlands, and historical main building. Our school swimming pool hosts Puddle Ducks 0-4 years lessons, with Water Babies lessons coming soon – both of which you can book separately.
The wider school campus is dog-friendly, with plenty of furry friends brightening up our campus, and providing children with mood-boosting animal time. There are also sheep roaming the fields at different parts of the year, sparking conversations around farms and animals.

Close-knit, family-feel nursery classes for plenty of individual contact time
Our nursery within a school, continues our school ethos of small class sizes for plenty of individual support. With a maximum capacity of just 44 children across the school nursery on any one day, our nursery teachers and practitioners are able to develop strong bonds with each child. As our learners become more independent, the ratios of children to staff increase.
