Fees for The Nursery at Queen Mary's School
How much does it cost for Queen Mary’s Nursery?
Please download our Fee sheet.
We are pleased to offer funded hours for all eligible families at The Nursery at Queen Mary’s, which significantly reduces the fee parents pay. We accept most other childcare vouchers as well as payments from tax-free government childcare accounts. We are open 50 weeks a year with an optional offering of 38 weeks. We offer a minimum attendance pattern of two days per week. Please note that priority will be given to parents requiring five and four day places at The Nursery.
What’s included in the Fees ?
Our nursery day is 08.00 – 17.30. Government funded hours cover the cost of childcare only and do not include meals, snacks, care products or our enhanced curriculum and enrichment programme. Our fees include two snacks, lunch and tea, early years curriculum learning, forest school, updates throughout the day for parents, and events. The nursery fees apply to children in our 0-2 years, 2-3 years, and Pre-Reception classes.
Breakfast club from 07.30 am – 08.00 am can be added for an additional £5.00.
Are there any additional extra costs?
There is a non-refundable registration fee of £150. Should your child continue into Reception, this fee will carry over towards the school registration fee.
If you would like to drop off your child between 7:30am and 8:00am, an additional charge of £5.00 will apply, which includes breakfast. Children collected after the Nursery’s closing time of 5:30pm will incur a late collection fee of £10.00.
Parents are required to supply milk, nappies, wipes, and sun cream. We recommend bringing a bottle for your child. Nothing extra should be added to your bill apart from potentially an optional trip or one-off activity. Please note that, whilst your nursery fees include the cost of additional consumables and optional extras that are not covered by Government funding, it is a statutory requirement that these charges are shown separately on your monthly invoice. This ensures transparency by clearly distinguishing the funded childcare entitlement from any additional goods and services provided. The total amount payable remains unchanged; the invoice simply itemises these elements to comply with funding regulations.
When are fees due?
Fees are charged monthly and are due on the 1st of the month for the month ahead. Childcare vouchers, tax-free government payments, and the early years government grant for funded childcare hours are all accepted towards payment.
Fees are usually calculated across a 50 week (full year) or 38 week period and split evenly across 12 months, unless parents prefer otherwise. This keeps bills predictable for families and makes it easy to set up direct debits or other regular payment methods.
Using Government Funded Hours
Through the UK Government’s Early Years funding, children aged 9 months to Reception may be entitled to 15 or 30 funded hours per week. These hours can be taken during term time or spread across our 50 weeks of opening, offering flexibility for families.
Please note that the amounts are subject to change each financial year when the funding amounts are reviewed by the Government.
Payments Using Tax-free Childcare Accounts
Queen Mary’s School Nursery accepts payments made from tax-free childcare accounts. To ensure your childcare invoice is paid on time, please make sure funds are available in your account a few days in advance, usually 2-3 working days before the payment is due.
Flexibility
If you need an odd day, we will be happy to book that for you, subject to availability. The ad hoc day rate is £93.00 and must be paid prior to the session. Childcare tax accounts can be used to pay for any ad hoc days but unfortunately government funded hours are for regular sessions only.
If you need to reduce the number of days that your child attends, we require just one month’s notice. The minimum number of sessions is two per week.
If you need additional regular days, we will book those in for you as soon as the day is available. Please note that applications for government funding are done at the beginning of a term and so are unavailable towards payment until a new term has begun. New terms start in September, January, and after Easter.
