Pony Club Rallies and Events at Queen Mary's School
Queen Mary’s is a Pony Club Centre and Centre Plus between Ripon and Thirsk. As a Linked Centre, we can offer riders with or without their own ponies the opportunity to gain the internationally recognised horse and pony care test. In addition, our horse riders can earn the coveted, and well-respected, Pony Club UK achievement badges.
Our Pony Club Centre also offer the opportunity for horse riders who board, or who don’t have transport to become a centre member, the chance to compete for our Pony Club at various Pony Club competitions, such as the Pony Club UK 1m competition at the International Bramham Horse Trials which Queen Mary’s proudly sponsor.

We offer term time Pony Club rallies every Saturday from 1.00 – 4.00 pm during the Spring/Summer terms (After Easter – July), and from 1.00 – 2.30 pm and 2.30 – 4.00 pm during the Autumn/Winter season (September to Before Easter). Sessions cost £25 each.
The Pony Club UK Achievement Badges
At Queen Mary’s, we’re proud to support the The Pony Club Achievement Badge programme, offering sessions that help members build confidence, knowledge and practical horsemanship skills in an engaging and supportive environment. These badges are designed to encourage learning through hands-on experience, giving riders the chance to deepen their understanding of horse and pony care while developing the skills needed to maintain the highest standards of welfare and management.
With a wide range of badge topics available, from everyday stable management to more specialist areas of horsemanship, there is something to suit every interest and ability level. The programme also provides a clear pathway for progression, allowing members to gradually build their knowledge and take on new challenges as their confidence grows.
Pony Club Musical Ride Competitions
At Pony Club, Musical Ride is a highlight of the year, combining teamwork, creativity and horsemanship. There are two opportunities for teams to take part: a live competition at the Pony Club Championships and a virtual alternative. In both formats, teams of six to twelve riders perform a choreographed equestrian routine set to music, often wearing coordinated costumes or uniforms to enhance the spectacle.
At Queen Mary’s, pupils have the opportunity to train and prepare for these exciting Musical Ride events as part of our Pony Club UK equestrian programme. Horse riders can work together to develop polished routines that showcase precision, musicality and creativity, with judging at the events based on ride content, music selection and overall artistic presentation. It is a wonderful chance for Queen Mary’s pupils and our Pony Club members to build confidence, strengthen teamwork skills, and experience the thrill of performing as part of a coordinated riding team.
