Meet Our Horses and Ponies
Horses and Ponies at Queen Mary’s
At Queen Mary’s, we have 24 horses and ponies residing in our stables. Our family of horses and ponies is a mixture of Queen Mary’s School horses and pupil-owned horses and ponies.
Within our stables, we have horses and ponies suitable for riding as well as our therapy ponies, Ebba and Freddie, that we received from the RSPCA as a 5 star BHS Approved Riding Centre.

Our Equestrian Centre and BHS Approved Coaches
Nestled within 40 acres of stunning parkland on the Baldersby Park estate, between Thirsk and Ripon, our equestrian centre ranks among the finest in Yorkshire and the surrounding area. The riding school has a 60m x 40m all-weather arena with full show jumping and dressage set-up as well as three open-barn stables, fourteen loose boxes, and 33 acres of grazing paddocks.
Our welcoming, experienced team of BHS-qualified instructors and coaches deliver lessons for children aged 3–16 years. The team is led by Stables Manager and Head Coach, Alice Clennan, who previously specialised in British Showjumping. All horses are supported by professional grooms, with the addition of a horse walker to ensure their ongoing care and wellbeing.
