Productions
We provide a wide range of opportunities for pupils of all ages to perform, direct, design, and stage manage productions. Each academic year, every pupil is encouraged to take part in our inclusive calendar of performances, which span a variety of genres. From operas such as Dido and Aeneas to family favourites like The Lion King Kids, Mary Poppins Jr., and Matilda Jr., pupils have the chance to showcase their talents on stage.
Behind the scenes, girls are offered leadership opportunities in technical and backstage roles, where they develop valuable skills in areas such as lighting and sound. Our Girl Tech Crew, made up of pupils from across year groups, demonstrates a strong understanding of stage production, equipping them with skills that can lead to future career paths. Additionally, the school supports students who wish to pursue performance opportunities outside of school, including musical theatre and film productions.
Speech and Drama
Whether aspiring to be a lawyer, actor, or CEO, the ability to speak confidently and effectively in front of an audience is invaluable. Our girls develop these essential skills through speech and drama, working towards examinations both individually and as part of a team. Our pupils consistently achieve outstanding results, with over 90% earning Distinctions in Reading, Acting, and Devised Drama. This commitment to excellence fosters confidence, communication, and leadership—skills that will serve them throughout their lives and careers.
Dance
Dance is an integral part of the Performing Arts curriculum for all girls and can also be chosen as an co-curricular activity. Whether enjoyed recreationally or as part of the Performance Teams, dance provides girls with opportunities to develop their creativity, physicality, and confidence.
Dancers can participate in weekly co-curricular classes, and those who successfully audition for the Performance Teams can compete in Regional and National competitions. All pupils have the chance to showcase their talents in the annual Dance Showcase and perform in the Senior musical, allowing them to experience the joy and discipline of dance while building essential performance skills.
Art
Our vibrant Art Department features a recently refurbished, double-height studio flooded with natural light, as well as a dedicated textiles studio. The department offers girls a wealth of opportunities to explore and create. Pupils engage in a wide range of artistic disciplines, including photography, painting, drawing, printmaking, textiles, and graphics.
Our Art Department encourages creativity and self-expression, with opportunities to exhibit work and collaborate on projects in inspiring surroundings. Scholarships are available for candidates who demonstrate exceptional artistic ability, assessed through examination.
