Sport is central to life at Queen Mary’s School and many teams across the year groups have had successes at local, county, regional and national level. From Lacrosse to Swimming, Hockey to Trampolining, there is a Sport for you and inclusivity is key.
100% of Prep School girls and 88% of Senior girls competed for the school in at least one sport in the last academic year promoting a balanced and healthy lifestyle, confidence and competitive spirit.
It is a priority to make every child feel safe and supported within the lesson and to strive to improve within their own capabilities. We provide opportunities for you irrespective of your ability to be creative, competitive and to face different challenges as an individual, in groups and as part of a team.

Sports
Eight specialist teachers and coaches offer lessons, extra-curricular activities and fixtures/competitions in sports including: Hockey, Netball, Lacrosse (Seniors), Swimming, Cross Country, Gymnastics, Trampolining, Tennis, Athletics, Rounders, Multi Sports, Tag Rugby, Football, Kwik Cricket, Yoga and more.
The New Astro Pitch and Sports Pavilion
The full-sized floodlit pitch is certified for Hockey, Netball and Tennis sits alongside a multi-functional pavilion with studio space and changing facility. The new floodlit, all-weather astro pitch will allow you to access these top-class facilities to practise for longer, and inspire you to enjoy exercise and succeed in sport. Other facilities include a gymnasium with full-sized competition trampolines, Netball and Tennis courts, swimming pool, many pitches and trails through the 40 acre grounds.
Queen Mary’s girls represent the district, county and teams have achieved national success.
Recent sporting achievements have included the Under 10 Gymnastics Team finishing 3rd in the UK in the National Independent Schools Gymnastics competition, the Under 13 Team finishing 5th nationally and the Over 13 Team being crowned as Area Champions for the third consecutive year. 18 Queen Mary’s girls represented the district in Hockey, a Senior girl is part of the Netball Regional Performance Pathway and one of our pupils competed at the National Cross Country Championships.
Junior Sport
Regular sports lessons in small groups, clubs and fixtures led by subject specialists encourage great progression and confidence in your abilities.
Senior Sport Scholars
If you are passionate about all things sport and show a particular talent in two or more sports you may wish to be assessed for a scholarship. A full programme of events, conferences including the National GSA Girls Go Gold Conference and opportunities where professional Sports people take coaching sessions.
