I am extremely proud to be the Head of Queen Mary’s School. Our thriving, day and boarding school welcomes girls from 4-16 years old and boys in the younger years. In keeping with our Woodard Foundation, this family school values, nurtures and respects every individual. We are challenged to do our best, serve others, show compassion and act with integrity.
Through loving life and enjoying learning, at Queen Mary’s we strive for excellence in every endeavour. The stimulating and varied curriculum is delivered by a dedicated team of staff who bring out the best in each child. Many of the girls move on to Sixth Form places at the country’s leading schools, both independent and state, often with scholarships and awards.
In offering a vibrant range of opportunities, each girl can succeed not only in the classroom but also within Art, Music, Outdoor Education and Sport. At heart however, a Queen Mary’s girl is eager and enthusiastic, ready to embrace challenges in an atmosphere of trust and teamwork.
We deliberately encourage the girls to be adventurous and outdoorsy, taking risks in a controlled environment. The girls swim, canoe and kayak in the river, camp out on the river banks, use our climbing wall and scaffolding poles, learn bush craft, build dens and climb trees becoming well-rounded, resilient and independent individuals.
Boarding is central to the life of the School, especially in the senior years, as it supports our philosophy to create capable and independent young people who will look back on their years at Queen Mary’s with a sense of self-worth and fulfilment, as well as strong and lasting friendships.
I invite you most warmly to visit this exceptional School to see for yourself the charm and character that makes Queen Mary’s simply the best place to learn and grow.
