Queen Mary’s is located in 40 acres of stunning countryside between Ripon and Thirsk minutes from the A1M, making the school easily commutable from many directions with our friendly minibus service and is easily reachable by road, train and air for girls who live further afield.
The school’s countryside location offers inspiring garden views, woods, formal gardens, the River Swale, WOLF run, rhododendron walk and much more. Being centrally located, there is a wealth of learning opportunities nearby:
– The historic City of York, the spa town of Harrogate are close by and the culture capitals of Leeds, Newcastle, Edinburgh and London are all within a two hour train ride.

Directions
By Road
From the A1. Take the A168 (exit 49). After 1 mile leave the A168, signposted Asenby. Just before the bridge over the River Swale, take a sharp left hand turning signposted Baldersby St James and Rainton. Queen Mary’s School is approximately 400 metres along the road on the right hand side.
From the A19. Take the exit onto the A168. Take first exit on left, after petrol station, signposted A167 for Alanbrooke Barracks and Topcliffe. Follow the road into the main street of Topcliffe village. The main road crosses the River Swale. Take the right turn immediately after the bridge on the sharp bend signposted Baldersby St. James and Rainton. The school is approximately 400 metres along the road on the right hand side
By Train
Thirsk train station is a 10 minute drive from the school and York train station can be reached in just over 30 minutes.
By Air
Our local airports are Leeds Bradford and Teeside with Manchester and the London Airports within a few hours.
